Faith was born just before Christmas 2002. She literally stands on her own two feet because she doesn’t have front legs to walk with. She is the world’s most famous bipedal dog and has an A-Class following due to her ongoing dogged resolution to be on top of the world! http://faiththedog.info/videos/faith-oprah Determined at a very young age to survive with the help of the Stringfellow family, Faith has overcome many life-threatening obstacles to be what some call a “miracle.” Her message of hope and inspiration has become international news, even media icon Oprah Winfrey dubbed Faith her favorite guest. Faith is an active military therapy dog; holding the rank of E5 Sgt. She was given a field recognition by General Baxter at Ft. Lewis, Washington in the summer of 2006. Faith’s work with the military has led her to visit numerous military bases and hospitals across the US, where she continues to be an amazing inspiration to our wounded soldiers as well as active and former service men and women.
Frankie didn’t listen to his CO in Iraq. Privates make a lot of mistakes, but this time it cost Frankie his legs when he stepped on a landmine. Just a week after the accident he was transported back to the United States and was admitted to a ward at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Seventeen days following the explosion, Frankie met the most amazing dog in the world – an E5 Sergeant herself, Faith walked right up to Frankie when she saw him being wheeled from the Physical Therapy room where he and his family had just met for the first time with the doctors and trainers. Frankie had decided not to assist in his own recovery. He was ready to end his life as soon as he was strong enough to do so, as soon as he was left alone. He had already told his trainer how he had planned to do it – that is until his nose met up with a cold wet nose of a faithful dog who just so happened to know a little about living life to the fullest without the use of her front legs. One conversation with Faith was all it took for Frankie to change his stoned-hearted determination to end his life. Within six months of the day they met, after corresponding with owner Jude Stringfellow, and even a couple of telephone conversations with Faith, Frankie, with his new prosthetic legs – walked out of Walter Reed by faith. He is currently teaching 2nd graders in the Nashville area. Before Frankie met Faith he had entered the Army after dropping out of college. Some dogs do make a difference.
FAITH WALKS, a Memoir of a Beautiful Life (2011), written by her owner Jude Stringfellow, details the struggles this unique animal overcame. It recalls and brings to the forefront the training, love, and hard work demonstrated not only by Faith but by the family as well. It tells the unfolding phenomenal story of how one dog can – and did – change the lives of so many individuals around the world. Stories of challenge and change taking place with those who have been fortunate to meet Faith in person, as well as heart breaking stories from those who have given up hope to find their last bit of faith being placed in a little dog whose name transcends all religions, bias, and prejudices. The book offers an important message of hope for anyone who has ever had to deal with insurmountable problems they feel they will never overcome. FAITH WALKS captivates reader s from the very first page as it chronicles the stories of victory after victory for a little dog who most people would have believed worthless at birth, but who has proven time and again that – anything is possible, with a little FAITH!
